ULTRA TECH 600 PIPE

Engineered to Excel in Extreme, High-Abrasion Environments — Induction-Hardened, Abrasion-Resistant Pipes for Maximum Wear Performance.

The Gold Standard in Wear and Abrasion Resistance

Abrasion-resistant pipes — also known as wear-resistant pipes — are specifically designed to endure the harshest and most abrasive materials. Unlike standard mild steel pipes, these pipes utilize advanced induction-hardening technology to deliver superior durability, reduced maintenance, and enhanced productivity. By significantly extending service life, they help minimize downtime and can save your operation thousands of dollars in replacement and repair costs.

600 Technology: Unmatched Durability and Performance

Engineered with advanced 600 Technology, these pipes last up to 6 times longer, significantly boosting productivity in high-wear applications. With an inner surface hardness of 50–65 HRC (600 BHN), they offer exceptional resistance to abrasion and material wear.
Fewer replacements — only 1 for every 3–4 standard pipes — not only lower maintenance costs but also reduce downtime and the risk of workplace injuries.
At the end of their lifecycle, these pipes offer simpler, more cost-effective disposal and recycling, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable operation.

RAW MATERIAL

  • Steel shall be medium carbon steel, suitable for achieving the required through-wall hardness gradient for ULTRA 600 Pipe.
  • Chemical composition of the raw steel must comply with the UT100 Specification for carbon steel pipe suitable for induction hardening (see attached specification).
  • Steel processing practices for ULTRA 600 Pipe shall align with the UT100 Specification.
  • Dimensional characteristics of the raw pipe (UT100 pipe) shall fully conform to ASTM A53 Grade B requirements for ERW piping.
  • Minimum tensile and yield strengths shall meet the criteria specified in the UT100 Specification.

PROCEDURE QUALIFICATION – STRAIGHT PIPE

  • Procedure qualification must be conducted for each unique combination of the following variables:
    • Heat number of the steel
    • Pipe diameter
    • Wall thickness
  • All process parameters shall be thoroughly documented and archived for each qualification trial.
  • Test coupons extracted from the trial pipe shall be used to evaluate the through-wall hardness profile.
  • Qualification is deemed successful when the hardness profile meets the ULTRA 600 Hardness Gradient requirements.
  • Tests may be conducted in-house or by a certified independent testing laboratory.
  • The approved procedure shall be fully documented and supplied to manufacturing for processing ULTRA 600 Pipe.

ULTRA 600 PROPERTIES

  • Ultra 600 Induction-Hardened Pipe shall exhibit the following properties:
    • Inner diameter (ID) hardness: 50–65 HRC
    • Outer diameter (OD) hardness: 14–32 HRC
    • Chemical composition as per UT100 Specification
    • Dimensional Tolerance: Induction hardening may modify the steel’s microstructure, resulting in an outside diameter up to 1% larger than ASTM A53 Grade B specifications
    • Minimum tensile strength: 90,000 psi (620 MPa)
    • Minimum yield strength: 60,000 psi (413 MPa)
    • Operating temperature range: 20°F to 450°F (–6°C to 232°C)
