ASTM A515 is a specification for carbon steel plates used primarily for intermediate and higher-temperature service in welded boilers and pressure vessels. These plates are intended for use in environments where elevated temperatures are present, making them suitable for applications that require excellent thermal resistance. ASTM A515 steel plates come in three grades: Grade 60, Grade 65, and Grade 70, each with varying tensile and yield strengths.



A515 Grade 60 is the base grade in this specification, offering moderate tensile strength and good toughness. It is suitable for pressure vessels and boilers operating at higher temperatures where durability and resistance to stress are essential.
A515 Grade 65 offers a higher level of tensile strength compared to Grade 60, making it a good choice for more demanding applications that require better mechanical performance and strength at elevated temperatures.



A515 Grade 70 is the strongest of the three grades, providing the highest tensile and yield strengths. It is designed for the most demanding pressure vessel and boiler applications where maximum strength, durability, and resistance to high temperatures are critical.
ASTM A515 plates are known for their ability to perform well in high-temperature environments, maintaining structural integrity and offering good weldability. These plates are commonly used in industries such as power generation, petrochemical processing, and refineries, where equipment is exposed to high heat and pressure.
